Survival to Revival
From captain of the soccer team to weekly blood tests, I lost my youth to a rare autoimmune disease without a diagnosis for a decade. Once I graduated religious studies from university and achieved remission in my early twenties, I devoted myself to public health advocacy, specifically mental health and free health care for all.
Despite my newfound capacity to finally keep up with my peers, the trauma from the years lost to chronic, invisible illness continued to impact my physiology. Throughout my nonprofit career, yoga became the only space that made sense anymore, so I followed its call on a scholarship for training in Perú.
Astrology guided me to the Sacred Valley of Perú, and the eclipses then aligned me with Koh Phangan, Thailand, where I served at retreat centers and offered trauma-informed yoga. Mobility-based calisthenics and structured nutrition plans became the centerpiece of my personal time. My bodily intuition guided me to practice postures I had never explored, engaging positions like L-Sit for hours everyday.
These very positions are why I survived a 30 foot fall from a waterfall during a major hiking accident, sustaining a broken pelvis with my calisthenics training in the canyon for twelve hours, before the navy belayed my body up the cliff by ropes.
My karmic contract had written that I would prepare my body and drishti (focus) exactly as I needed to survive what I shouldn't have. The very land that called me to heal then broke me at my healthiest, so I can piece myself back together and teach others how to heal, too.
While relearning to walk twice, I deepened my studies in anatomy and rehabilitation confined to a wheel chair in a nursing home, after a month in the ICU. People ask me how I made it out alive, but the truth is that I had no other choice... and that most of me didn't.
I have experienced the rite of passage to individuation through the dark night of the soul, and my resilience is your witness as you build your container through your own.
As an empath, I have long denied profit to offer my healing gifts and resources to others, focusing on advocacy that enables accessible and inclusive care. Yet all paths have led me here: to walk with you as you follow your own - shamelessly, fearlessly, and in authenticity.
You may be tired of being strong, but you still are. You never know how strong you are until you have to be. Your deepest weakness is your greatest strength.
